Problem Areas Around the World

Today it seems we see problems developing all around the world. Besides the obvious issues in the Middle East, there are difficulties developing in South American, Cuba, and Russia. At American Thinker there are three articles highlighting these areas and what the problems are. I recommend that you read these three pieces. Aside from the direct concerns for the general populations in South American, Cuba, and Russia, it concerns me that there are Americans with leftist views who idolize the trouble-making leaders. Do those Americans not realize what these policies do to the lives of ordinary citizens? The articles are:

"Terrorists, Marxists, Leftists and the Democrats" by Lance Fairchok

"What I learned in Havanna talking to ordinary Cubans" by David Paulin

"The Trouble with Russia" by Herbert E. Meyer

These are just three of the problems developing in the world. There are many more and with today's ease of communication and travel, we have to be aware of the whole world and how what is going on can affect us. We also need to be aware of the examples that show just how bad communism and socialism are for people. There is nothing compassionate about these ideologies, even though they are promoted as helping all people. They don't.

I often wonder if some of the promoters and cheerleaders realize what would happen to their fortunes if these systems were truly instituted in their pure form. The other thing I often wonder is why the promoters and cheerleaders haven't already given their substantial fortunes to the poor masses. It's kind of like John "25,000 sqft" Edwards and his 'two Americas.'

JR, I don't think the promoters and cheerleaders give it any real thought. On the surface, it sounds like these ideologies lift the poor out of poverty. Trouble is, in reality, it lowers almost everyone (except the leaders, of course) into poverty. Not to mention the spiritual and emotional damage to the ordinary citizen.

From the LDS standpoint, we are taught to be self sufficent and tend to our own needs rather than depend on others. Self, family, Church, others in that order, not others (government) first.

Yes, and that is the wisest way. The closer to the person in need that the people helping that person are, the better the help and the better the encouragement to move past needing help if it is possible to do so. When the government tries to do everything for everyone, they make a hash of it--there aren't enough services to go around and people are bled dry in taxes to pay for this forced charity.

Yes, but then they have control over you and that is what they are looking for anyway.

Most assuredly, JR. It's all about power and control and money. Why don't people understand that?
